We are a catalyst for transformative change, championing Black, Asian Minority Ethnic women, girls, and gender-expanding individuals. Our GROWNISH, WOMANISH, and PRIMEISH initiatives strategically uplift at pivotal life stages.
Fearlessly advancing equality, our bold values fuel groundbreaking projects in arts, health, and business. We have launched 2 new projects for 2024, ABC (Art Break Challenge - delivered in partnership with Duke of Edinburgh and funded by United By Legacy) and 'She Don Did It!' Schools catered for our Grownish development arm, in hopes to bring more opportunities for creative expression and skill development among young individuals aged 12-17. The Art Break Challenge (ABC) encourages artistic and nature exploration, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-discovery.
'She Don Did It!' Schools, an extension of our GROWNISH development arm, aspires to create a supportive educational environment, empowering young minds to break barriers. These new projects align with our unwavering commitment to fostering growth and dismantling barriers for the next generation. 'She Don Did It!' returns for the third time in 2024, persistently challenging societal norms and fostering inspiration and empowerment in our WOMANISH young minds. Offering an exciting six-week incubator program packed with unmatched opportunities to help you level up your career in music across five courses.
Lastly, under our PRIMEISH arm, we present 'Mother’s Write' – the UK's inaugural SongWriting Camp exclusively for mothers. (Funded by PRS Foundation, delivered in partnership with We Are The Unheard and Mamas In Music.) The project garnered support for sponsors including Levis, Qube Studios, Sure, Black Lives In Music and PRS.
'Mother’s Write' is a pioneering initiative dedicated to empowering mothers in music at every level. Our aim is to cultivate an environment where their talents not only thrive but also resonate profoundly within the industry, marking a significant stride toward inclusivity and recognition for motherhood in the music realm.
Since around April 2023, we've been situated at Assay Studios—a fantastic Business Hub with captivating aesthetics and vibrant vibes. The breakout meeting rooms are particularly noteworthy, enhancing our overall experience.
Our connection with Assay Studios goes beyond mere workspace; we've hosted two memorable events here. The first celebrated the achievement of 'She Don Did It!' graduates, while the second was a collaborative effort with So Far Sounds, adding another layer of vibrancy to this already dynamic space.
Any recent awards or exciting projects we can shout about?
We proudly won Project of the Year Award for our 'She Don Did It!' Programme at the Youth Music Awards.
We have the launch night for 'She Don Did It!' this July, exclusively for our 2024 participants and SDDI Alumni. This program is dedicated to amplifying the voices often overlooked in the music industry due to factors like identity and background. We strive to provide a platform for the unheard voices in the West Midlands music industry.
